Adison’s Mentorship Experience + BIG NEWS!

1/28/2020

Meet my girl, Adison.

Adison + I met earlier this fall + it was like we had known each other forever!! Adison did my website + all my branding. Earlier this year, Adison completed my Mentorship program + I asked her to be a guest on my blog! Read what she had to say about her experience with MTP + some exciting news!

“Quite honestly, it would be extremely hard to not see God’s hand in every part of the way that my sweet, sweet friend Maddie runs everything over at Madeline Turner Photography, and that is one of the many things that drew me to her seeking wisdom + mentoring. From the way she genuinely loves on her clients, to the words she crafts in her website, and every small detail in between. Things like the fact that when you read on her site that she is already praying for you + loves you (speaking to perspective clients), she truly, truly means it! Each of these details, I could tell about Maddie before even meeting her. So after launching Adison Culver Photo, and realizing I really had no clue where I was going, or what I was doing, I slid into the dm’s of @madelineturnerphotography, having no clue that not only would I learn SO much, and grow SO much, but God’s hand, once again was evident in His plan for us because out of that DM I gained a mentor, AND a friend. Believe it or not (hopefully, there’s more of people like me out there) before doing the MTP Mentorship, my business looked like shooting in Auto-EVERYTHING, I was delivering galleries via thumb drives (which I actually switched to online galleries a few months before meeting Maddie, PTL), and I had NO IDEA what a “Client Experience” was. The only thing I knew was that I had a passion for capturing others in their sweet + hard seasons of life— and that one day, far in the future I wanted to be a Wedding Photographer. Maybe I will add in some slightly embarrassing side-by-sides of my Photography now, vs. pre-mentorship. That’s how serious I am about every starting out photographer making this investment! I write all of this, embarrassingly exposing where I was a year ago, to explain the weight of what this kind of investment into your business really means. A Mentorship of this type is not something you can walk into expecting to fly through the material, or just have a great “resume booster” for future clients. This type of Mentorship can be lots of time, being teachable, vision casting, and working hard for what you want! During my time apart of the Madeline Turner Photography (or MTP) Mentorship, here are just a couple of the things I learned from it. + How to vision cast a vision for my Photography Business. + I found my unique style, and voice. + I learned how to shoot in Manual. GAME. CHANGER. + I found my Ideal Client. (Also, a game changer.) + I got to know my camera. + I grew in my talent! (Yes, you can grow talent!) + I learned + crafted my own Client Experience. (Again, GAME. CHANGER.) + I finally voiced my dream that I thought was too far out to be a reality one day. Post mentorship with Maddie, I honestly gained a genuine friendship (we talk at LEAST once a day), business partner to do all of the things with, coffee (well, now matcha) date companion, and prayer partner. Not to mention the COMMUNITY God has given me through the connections that Maddie has both for my business + in my personal life. Would NOT be surprised if I met my future husband through MTP. Aside from the personal notes, you need to hear the facts, friend. Post mentorship, I started booking weddings (remember my far-in-the-future dream!?), I crafted my own unique Adison Culver Photography Client Experience for my 2020, and 2021 bride + grooms. I am raising my prices enough to invest back into may business traveling to workshops, planning style shoots, buying new equipment for my business, and getting more and more bookings every month. All of this going to say, that if you’re a new photographer, or even one that has been in the business for a while (maybe just kinda lost your spark, or are coming back to it after setting it down for a hot minute): Make this investment. If you want to grow in your knowledge of the talent + science behind beautiful, quality work: Make this investment. If your work is already there, but you want to learn how to better run the business side of things: Make this investment. If you want to grow + learn how to better cater to your dream client, and better serve the ones you already have: Make this investment. And if you are in need of friendship, and community: Reach out to Maddie. You can’t go wrong, the time is now, friend!”

So now I am going to get real vulnerable with ya for a minute. Here are some pre + post Mentorship photos of my work. Let me just let the images speak for themselves!
